Fire update
Double
Snag Fire –
While containment on the fire remains at 35% there was significantly less fire
activity yesterday with only ground fuels burning according to Incident
Commander Trainee Tim Wilson. “All the fire lines held and we are continuing to
open things up” Wilson continued, meaning that crews were digging into ash
pits to allow cooler air to enter and finish the combustion process as mop up
continues. A total of 69 personnel comprised of two hand crews, one falling
module, two engines, five masticators and one dozer plus operators are assigned
to the fire today.
While
higher humidity levels and cloud cover will moderate fire behavior, fire
managers are concerned about outflow winds from possible thunderstorms
predicted for this evening.
The
public is reminded that Forest Road 52 is closed and heavy equipment is working
near the fire.
Weather: Increasing clouds throughout the day with a slight
chance of precipitation and thunderstorms expected during the evening and
overnight. Temperatures 78-86°,
Humidity 20-29%, Winds from the northwest.
