PENDLETON, Ore. (July 12, 2024) — Firefighters are making good progress toward suppressing the Buck Creek Fire located near Buck Mountain Trail #3075 approximately 3.5 miles southeast of Bingham Springs, Oregon on the Walla Walla Ranger District. This will be the final update on the fire pending significant changes.
Buck Creek
Fire
is still estimated at seven acres within the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness. Fire
personnel are at the location monitoring the fire. Fire managers are
continually assessing resource needs based on fire spread and behavior. The
cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Extreme
heat and dry conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend with the
possibility of thunderstorms. The current fire danger rating is at HIGH and
public use restrictions phase A for Umatilla National Forest are in effect as
of today, Friday July 12, 2024.
