You may have noticed smoke in the air from Cougar Creek Fire.
Multiple agencies from the Washington State Department of Natural
Resources, Umatilla National Forest, county and district resources and a Type 3
incident management team are actively suppressing the Fire and officials have
ordered a Complex Incident Management Team which will transition with the
current Type 3 team in the near future. The fire is approximately 11 miles southwest of Anatone, WA and
approximately 50 miles east of Walla Walla, WA.
Umatilla National Forest wants to remind everyone that the current fire danger rating remains at EXTREME and public use restrictions phase B, involving chainsaw use, smoking and off-road travel are in effect.
