Skull Fire Update for July 6, 2024
PENDLETON, Ore. (July 6, 2024)
— Containment efforts continue into a third day on Skull Fire
which is located approximately five miles southeast of Ukiah, OR near the Drift
Fence Campground on the North Fork John Day Ranger District.
Skull Fire is still holding at approximately 64 acres in size with 90
percent containment and no changes to the resources committed to the fire.
There are no road closures or evacuations at this time. Fire managers will
continually assess resource needs based on fire spread and behavior.
Umatilla National Forest is very thankful for the continued assistance of our partner agencies in helping to manage the fire.
Officials want to remind everyone that while the current fire danger rating remains at LOW for Umatilla National Forest, this weekend is expected to be extremely hot and dry with conditions spanning through next week.
