PENDLETON, Ore. (July 10, 2024) — Firefighters continue to actively suppress the Buck Creek Fire for a second day, the fire is located near Buck Mountain Trail #3075 and approximately 3.5 miles southeast of Bingham Springs, Oregon on the Walla Walla Ranger District.
The Buck
Creek Fire, which is currently estimated at seven acres within the North
Fork Umatilla Wilderness. Fire personnel, including multiple aircraft and
rappelers are also at the location to suppress the fire. Fire managers are
continually assessing resource needs based on fire spread and behavior. The
cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Forest Service Law
Enforcement Officers.
Extreme
heat and dry conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend. Fire
officials want to remind everyone that the current fire danger rating is HIGH and public use restrictions phase A for Umatilla
National Forest will be in effect Friday July 12, 2024.
