Current Situation: The fire continues to burn, creeping through short grass and underbrush with isolated single tree torching. Aviation assets remain in limited use due to availability. Dry and windy conditions increase the chance for rapid fire growth. Driven by dry fuels and shifting winds, hot and dry conditions combined with potential pop up thunderstorms strikes could spark new fires.
Firefighters are actively working across all sections of the perimeter to secure and hold containment lines. Crews are building and reinforcing lines from Happy Jack Ridge to Road 202, while systematically cooling down hot spots near the edge to prevent the fire from reigniting. Crews continue to strengthen existing barrier lines, cutting down hazard trees and expanding water systems by laying additional hose lines.
Emergency notifications and evacuation updates are coordinated through local Emergency Management. Residents near the fire area are encouraged to stay informed through official fire information.
Weather and Fire Behavior: Hot, dry, and windy conditions will dominate through Friday and Saturday. Red Flag conditions remain in place through Friday evening, accompanied by a chance of abundant lightning storms. Temperatures will climb into the high 90s, with daytime humidity dropping into the low to upper teens. Westerly winds will pick up Friday afternoon to 5–8 mph, gusting up to 16 mph, before settling into local night winds. On Saturday, westerly winds will increase to 5–10 mph with 15 mph gusts, eventually shifting to the northwest at 6–11 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. Moderate overnight humidity recoveries (50% to 60%) will provide slight relief, though overnight lightning strikes remain a key concern.
