Fire update
Double
Snag Fire –
The expected warmer and dryer weather will be a “test of how well we did in the
last week,” said Incident Commander Trainee Tim Wilson and said that he is,
“liking what I am seeing,” when asked about how suppression activities are
progressing. “The fire was more active yesterday, as we anticipated, but there
was no threat to the line and we have people in place to monitor and patrol,”
he continued. The fire remains at 131 acres and is 50% contained.
More
heavy equipment is arriving to assist with on the 52 Road Fuel break work and contingency
line construction.
Fifty
personnel are currently assigned to the fire, comprised of one hand crew, one
falling module, two engines, six masticators and one dozer plus operators.
Due
to reduced fire activity and increasing containment on the fire, this will be
the final update on Double Snag Fire unless conditions on the ground change.
Weather: Mostly sunny and
hot. Clear tonight. Temperatures 83-102°, Humidity 13-21%, Light winds from the west. With weather conditions getting hotter and
drier and the potential for thunder storms this weekend, the Forest will
continue patrols and be ready to respond to new ignitions.
