Rail Fire Update 8/2
The Rail Fire, currently 2,043 acres is burning in lodge pole pine approximately ten miles Southwest of Unity, Oregon. The nearest private land is two miles to the east.
Crews did a burnout overnight to establish an anchor point, and that operation went well. Crews will continue to work to secure that anchor point today. High winds are expected this afternoon.
Currently there are nine 20 person hand crews, 13 fire engines and 2 helicopters assigned to the fire. 282 personnel total. No private property or ranches are currently at risk.
