Cause:  Lightning/Natural

Size:  2,425 acres

Containment:  96%

Location: 7 miles NE of Kimberly, OR

Current Situation:   

A local Type 4 Team will assume command of the fire from the Nevada Team 3 at 2000 on Monday 8/3. This will be the final update unless conditions change regarding the fire.

Fire crews continue suppression repair and remain prepared for initial attack operations. Crews continue to patrol and monitor control lines for any remaining hot spots. 

Emergency notifications and evacuation updates are coordinated through local Emergency Management. Residents near the fire area are encouraged to stay informed through official fire information.  

Weather and Fire Behavior: A warm and dry trend will continue across the area through Tuesday, maintaining elevated fire concerns. Temperatures will reach the high 70s under mostly clear skies, with daytime relative humidity dropping around 20% on Monday and plummeting to 10–15% on Tuesday. Winds will generally blow out of the north or northeast at under 10 mph, though afternoon gusts on Monday could reach up to 15 mph. Moderate overnight humidity recoveries will provide brief windows of cooler relief. While fire activity is mostly calm, these hot, dry conditions continue to dry out fuels, keeping a minimal potential threat for isolated heat pockets to flare up within unburned islands inside the perimeter.
