The Union County Board of Commissioners have now issued an additional Level 1 notification for residents located on Highway 204 between Phillips Creek Road and Valley View Road and Valley View Road from Highway 204 to Gordon Creek Road. The winds have shifted resulting in the fire moving towards the NE and Highway 204 prompting the notification. If traveling along Highway 204, citizens are urged to use extreme caution as fire is impacting the highway and fire service vehicles... are along the roadway.
Level 1 evacuation means that residents should be aware of the danger that exists in their area, monitor services websites and local media outlets for information. This is the time for preparation and precautionary movement of persons with special needs, mobile property and (under certain circumstances) pets and livestock. If conditions worsen, emergency services personnel may contact you via an emergency notification system.
