Community fire information meeting tonight at Last Resort store and campground near Tucannon at 7 pm.
Lick Creek Fire: Firefighters are focused on patrol and continue to mop up the southern portion of the fire perimeter. Pockets of vegetation burning further in from the perimeter may cause smoke, but this does not pose a threat to the containment lines. The acreage increase is due to interior burning. The footprint of the fire remains the same. Suppression repair will occur as resources are available.
Green Ridge Fire Current Situation: Firefighters within the Wilderness worked to extinguish spot fires and slow, or check, the growth of the fire toward the east. Helicopters dropped retardant to assist firefighters on the ground. Crews scouted road 300 towards the Slick Ear area and road 64 for possible containment lines. Firefighters on the 4317 road continued improvements to make it more effective as a containment line. Crews assessed the structures in the Tucannon area for protection needs.
Today’s Activities for Green Ridge Fire: Hot Shot firefighters and Smoke Jumpers in the Dunlap springs area will continue constructing line and containing spot fires on the east side of the fire today. Air support will continue to check and delay the progression of fire movement through bucket drops, provide reconnaissance and support ground resources. Firefighters will fortify road systems and hand lines outside the wilderness area while the specialized crews within the Wilderness work to build closer containment lines.
Weather and Smoke Information: A warm and dry trend will start today and is expected to continue through the weekend. Winds will start off light and terrain driven with afternoon gusts near 15 mph. Smoke Information is available on the Washington Smoke Blog at: https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/
Evacuations: Yesterday, Asotin County downgraded the Grouse Flats evacuation zone from a Level 2 to a Level 1. The Level 1 Evacuation for Groverland and Anetone Evacuation Zones have been dropped. Garfield and Columbia Counties Level 1 Evacuation Zones remain in place.
