PENDLETON, Ore. – Forest officials will reduce the area and road
closure for the HK Complex to provide access to Umatilla National Forest lands
not impacted by the wildfire or suppression efforts.
Effective Aug. 22, 2019, at 5 p.m.
(pacific time), Forest Service Road (FSR) 21 will be open to through traffic.
All roads that spur off FSR 21 between FSR 140 and FSR 2110 will remain closed.
Both FSR 140 and FSR 2110 will be open. A full description of the area closure
is available at the end of this release or on the Umatilla National Forest
website at www.fs.usda.gov/umatilla.
The HK Complex is estimated at
2,707 acres and 95% contained, but the fire is still active within the interior.
The public is asked to avoid entering the remaining closure area, which is
still in place for public and firefighter safety. Firefighters continue to conduct
suppression and repair activities, including mopping up hot spots and hazard
tree removal. The HK Complex is located approximately 15 miles north of
Monument, Oregon.
Fire officials want to remind everyone
that the current fire danger rating remains at HIGH and Public Use
Restrictions involving chainsaw use are in effect.

south to the end of FSR 2115 in T6S, R28E, section 30, East to the bottom of
the Bear Creek drainage in T6S, R28E, Section 30, then south to the junction of
Two Spring Creek and Swale Creek in T6S, R28E, Section 32, following Swale
Creek to the east then north to FSR 21 in T6S, R28E, section 9, west northwest
along FSR 21 to junction of FSR 2107-024 in T6S, R28E, section 5, north on FSR
2107-024 to junction of FSR 2107-030 in T5S, R28E section 31, west to junction
of FSR 2107 in T6S, R28E, section 6, continuing west southwest to junction of
FSR 2107-040, north to junction of fireline and FSR 2107-040 in T5S, R27E,
section 36, west then south along fireline to junction of FSR 2107-010 in T6S,
R27E, section 1, west southwest to junction of FSR 2107 in T6S, R27E, section
1, south to junction with FSR 21 in T6S, R27E, section 12.
