Key Messages

Fixing Travel Routes: Fire personnel along with heavy equipment are tackling the challenging cleanup operations following recent wildfire and suppression activities. Crews are actively restoring roads and trails, clearing fire-damaged timber from adjacent right-of-ways, and installing strategic water bars to mitigate potential soil erosion. Local access routes within the fire footprint will remain closed until safety conditions are fully restored. 

Your Safety is our Goal: All forest visitors must stay completely outside the closure areas until they officially reopen. Hunters have recently been seen inside the fire perimeter, putting themselves at serious risk from both post‑fire hazards and active firefighting operations. The landscape remains unstable, with hidden ash pits, weakened trees and slick terrain. Crews and heavy equipment are still working throughout the closure area, creating additional dangers for anyone who enters. To protect public safety, patrols are being increased to monitor and enforce these closures.

Managing a Massive Operational Footprint: Fire crews are working to secure the fire perimeter and repair the surrounding landscape. Personnel are actively engaged in patrol and mopping up lingering hot spots, while utilizing cold trailing techniques to meticulously inspect fire edges by hand for hidden heat. To mitigate the footprint left by containment efforts, teams are executing extensive dozer line repair and hand line repair, blending these artificial barriers back into the natural topography to prevent erosion. At the same time, specialized crews are repairing indirect lines, chipping downed woody debris and brush to reduce future fuel loads, and falling fire-weakened trees that pose an immediate hazard to the area.

CURRENT CONDITIONS AND Planned activities

Hagen Fire

Firefighters are patrolling the edges of the burned area to find and put out any hot spots while cleaning up and repairing the landscape. Crews are focused on fixing damaged trails and smoothing out the dirt barriers that were dug up by hand tools and dozers to stop the fire. They are also putting woody debris into woodchippers to clear the area. Heavy machinery operators are actively fixing the wide dozer paths and cutting down unsafe, fire-damaged trees.

Paradise Fire

Crews will be working on repairing and replacing fencing damaged during fire suppression efforts. Other personnel continue working on repairing dozer line, mopping up hot spots and walking the perimeter of the fire to ensure that the fire edges remain secure.

Weather and Fire behavior                            

Heavy rain fell late yesterday evening and continued throughout the night. Today will be mostly cloudy with intermittent heavy showers. Winds will be southwest 11 to 13 mph gusting to near 25 mph. Beginning Monday, a new weather system will bring a return to warm, dry conditions.
