Notice: As operations continue to shift from active suppression to repair and restoration, updates will be provided every other day. We will continue to issue special updates if conditions change or important information needs to be shared.
Key Message
Suppression Repair: Crews and heavy equipment operators continue working to restore areas affected by firefighting efforts on both the Paradise and Hagen Fires. Resource specialists are helping guide this work to stabilize soil, improve drainage, remove fire‑damaged trees that could fall, and repair impacts from dozer lines, handlines, access routes, and staging areas.
Warmer weather on the way: Sunny conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures in the low 80s. Winds will shift from southeast at 3–7 mph in the morning to northwest at 6–8 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph after 2:00 p.m. With warmer temperatures and increased wind, a slight rise in smoke and a small uptick in fire activity are possible.
UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System): A Type 1 fixed‑wing drone has been assigned to the fires. This aircraft will conduct nighttime infrared (IR) flights to detect heat. Firefighters use these heat‑mapping images to monitor areas that are unsafe to access on foot and to identify remaining hot spots that could threaten containment progress.
CURRENT CONDITIONS AND Planned activities
Hagen Fire
Firefighters are removing hose lines, pumps, portable water tanks, fuel cans, and other equipment from the fireline. Where access is safe, suppression repair and road work are underway to restore areas disturbed during operations. Shifting toward repair work helps stabilize the fire area and improves safety for personnel working within the fire footprint. In the steeper sections of the terrain, a hotshot crew is evaluating locations where additional containment line may still be needed near the fire’s edge.
Paradise Fire
Work is focused on repairing trails impacted during suppression efforts and restoring handline and dozer line. Firefighters are also walking through burned areas to locate and extinguish any remaining hot spots. Additional tasks include hauling out equipment that is no longer needed and chipping woody debris left behind from earlier line construction. Additional equipment that is no longer needed on the Hagen Fire is being relocated to the Paradise Fire to enhance suppression repair efforts.
Weather and Fire behavior
A warming and drying trend that began yesterday will continue through the week. Expect increased smoke and a slight rise in fire activity as temperatures climb.
