PENDLETON, Ore. (Sept. 8, 2024) Whitman Spring Fire, at the close of shift on Saturday, September 7, 2024, is 100% contained. The fire is located near Buck Mountain area approximately 28 miles east of Pendleton, Oregon on the Walla Walla Ranger District in the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness. This will be the final update for the Whitman Spring Fire.

Complex, which is currently comprised of five fires (Service, Kinzua, Canyon,
Holmes, Two Cabin) on Friday, September 6, 2024. For future information about

There is
a Red Flag Warning, changes of isolated to scattered thunderstorms today. A
combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior. The current fire danger rating is at HIGH and
public use restrictions phase B for Umatilla National Forest are in effect and forest
personnel will continue scouting for potential new smoke reports.
