Lick Creek and Green Ridge Fire Updates – Sunday, July 25, 2021 – 9:00 a.m.

 Lick Creek Fire: Patrolling and monitoring the fire perimeter is ongoing and smoke will continue to be visible as unburned pockets of vegetation inside the fire area are consumed. The Lick Creek Fire is now 90% contained. 

Green Ridge Fire Current Situation: Firefighters cleared vegetation along roads on the north, west and south of the fire in preparation for burnout operations. Crews built handline south of the Meadow Creek area connecting it with the containment line towards Panjab trailhead with the assistance of bulldozers. Hot Shots, Smokejumpers, and Wildland Fire Modules were aided by aerial support as they worked within the Wilderness checking spot fires and building handline.  

Today’s Activities for Green Ridge Fire: Crews will continue to clean up and prepare containment line south of Godman Springs along road 46 and finalize any additional road preparation along the 4713 road. A hose lay will be installed from the end of 045 south to the 4712 road. Bulldozers and masticators will continue to clear out the 4022 road north of the fire. All these efforts are to strengthen and secure containment lines. The crews stationed in the Wilderness will be transported to the Meadow Creek area to secure that fire edge and perform burnout operations. Depending on conditions, a combination of hand and aerial ignition may be used to accomplish the burnout. Structure protection needs north of the fire are being assessed. Firefighters will work to slow the spread of the fire to the East as resources and conditions allow. 

California Team 12, led by Mike Nobles, Incident Commander, will in-brief today in preparation of taking command of the fire Monday evening.  Command staff from the two teams will work closely together over the course of today and tomorrow to ensure a smooth transition.  After transition occurs, the Incident Command Team 12 will establish their Command Post in Dayton, Washington. 

Weather and Smoke Information: Sunday will be another warm and dry day across the Blue Mountains. Morning inversion will clear up by the afternoon.
