Clarks Creek Fire PM Update 8/6/17

Firefighters completed control lines today on the Clarks Creek Fire. Mop-up next to the line began, and firefighters will continue to secure the line today and tomorrow. The fire is approximately 50% contained. Firefighters were able to GPS the fire today and measured it at 301 acres. The fire is burning in grass, brush and open pine stands. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

Members of the public are reminded that while there are no area closures in place, firefighters will be present in the area for several days and to avoid the area. The extended forecast calls for the potential for thunderstorms over the region Wednesday through Sunday. With the potential for lightning caused fires, fire mangers would like to remind people that conditions are very dry and fire danger levels are EXTREME.

Public Use Restrictions including restrictions for campfires, chainsaw use, off-road travel and debris burning are in effect. Information on Public-Use Restrictions on the Oregon Department of Forestry, Umatilla National Forest and Wallowa Whitman National Forest can be found at http://bmidc.org/index.shtml under Current Information: Fire Restrictions.
