Key Messages
Closed area safety: We ask that hunters and visitors stay out of closed areas and roads for the safety of the public and fire operations. Fire crews and equipment remain active on forest roads and within closure zones. These closures are in place so we can repair potholes, remove unstable trees and find hidden hot spots that make these areas dangerous to enter.
Supporting firefighters: Firefighters on the Paradise and Hagen Fires have a strong support network in place. Rapid Extraction Module Support (REMS) teams are positioned across both incidents and staffed with highly trained EMTs and paramedics ready to perform complex rescues if needed. At camp, firefighters receive about 5,000 calories a day, along with showers and medical and logistical support.
Night drone flights: UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) is conducting nighttime infrared (IR) flights to detect heat. These flights help firefighters track progress along the fire’s edge and locate remaining hot spots that could threaten containment.
CURRENT CONDITIONS AND Planned activities
Hagen Fire
Crews in contained areas continue packing up equipment, removing hose lines, pulling pumps, and completing suppression repair where access allows. These efforts help restore the fire area and support the shift toward repair‑focused work. The Lakeview Hotshots arrive today to scout handline opportunities in steep terrain, identifying where additional line can be built to bring containment closer to the fire’s edge.
Paradise Fire
Firefighters continue suppression repair and mop‑up across secured portions of the fire. Crews are hauling back unneeded equipment and chipping woody debris from earlier line construction to reduce fuel. They are also gridding burned areas to locate and extinguish remaining heat. The Bonneville Hotshots remain engaged in direct handline construction along the fire’s edge, securing open sections of line and improving control.
Weather and Fire behavior
A warming and drying trend started yesterday afternoon and will continue into this week. Expect more smoke and slightly increased fire activity as the weather heats up.
