- Crews continue to make excellent progress on both fires. Firefighters are strengthening and mopping up containment lines, with priority work continuing around the Mill Creek drainage on the Paradise Fire and along the northern portion of the Hagen Fire.
- Smoke may be more visible today as firefighters conduct tactical firing operations to strengthen containment lines. Seeing additional smoke does not mean fire conditions are getting worse. It means firefighters are actively working to make the area safer.
- Expect increased firefighter and equipment traffic along Highway 204 and other roads near the Hagen Fire. Please slow down, remain alert and give firefighters and equipment plenty of room to work.
CURRENT CONDITIONS AND Planned activities
Paradise Fire
Firefighters made significant progress yesterday securing containment lines around the Paradise Fire. Crews continued holding and mopping up previous tactical firing operations along Forest Service Road 65 and successfully worked around the corner into the Mill Creek drainage. Night crews completed nearly a mile of additional strategic firing operations, bringing the fire toward established containment lines. Today, firefighters will continue securing and mopping up these areas while working further into the Mill Creek drainage. They will also patrol for and extinguish remaining hot spots along the fire’s perimeter.
Hagen Fire
Firefighters continued strengthening and securing containment lines around the Hagen Fire yesterday, making excellent progress along Highway 204. On the southeastern side of the fire, crews conducted tactical firing operations, mopped up hot spots and contained small areas where fire crossed firelines. Aviation supported on-the-ground resources conducting firing operations throughout the day and overnight north of Black Mountain to strengthen containment lines between Forest Service Roads 3128 and 31. Today, firefighters will continue securing and mopping up containment lines while heavy equipment continues working along Forest Service Road 31. Protecting private lands and other important resources north of the fire remains a priority.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR
Temperatures will reach the mid-80s to low 90s today with relative humidity between 18-22%. Winds will reach 10-15 mph with gusts of up to 21 mph this afternoon. Conditions on both the Hagen and Paradise Fires are favorable for tactical firing operations today.
