Oregon Department of Forestry and Wallowa-Whitman Resources Respond to Fire at Joseph Canyon
Ground crews from the Oregon Department of Forestry and Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, as well as a helicopter and rappellers from the Wallowa-Whitman were dispatched to a fire located in the Joseph Canyon area of Wallowa County, about 13 miles Northeast of Flora, Oregon and about 1 1/2 miles south of the Oregon and Washington border. Fire size is currently estimated at 150 acres, although difficult terrain and darkness are making it difficult to get a map of the fire area. The fire is burning in grasslands and brush at the current time.
