Key Messages
- New command team now in place. Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 8 has now taken command of the Paradise and Hagen fires, effective 6:00 am Thursday. Incoming Incident Commander Adam Veale thanks the outgoing Southern Area Team 3 for all their work to contain the fires and keep communities safe.
- Additional reductions to evacuation levels for the Paradise and Hagen fires were issued on Wednesday. Residents should confirm current levels through official sources as conditions can change quickly.
- Forest closures are still in place. Hunters and visitors are asked to comply with all forest closures and remain alert as firefighters and equipment may be working outside the immediate fire area.
- Slow down and stay alert on the roads. Give fire vehicles and equipment plenty of space to help keep firefighters, equipment operators, and the community safe.
CURRENT CONDITIONS AND Planned activities
Hagen Fire
Recent increases in acreage growth continue to reflect fire activity within the fire’s existing footprint. Firefighters are continuing to mop up on Thursday, with aircraft assisting with hotspot detection across the fire area. Crews will also continue monitoring the fire’s edge to check for any signs of reignition and remove water handling equipment including portable pumps and hose lays as conditions allow.
Paradise Fire
Firefighters continue to reinforce control lines and mop up hotspots in priority areas, including the Mill Creek drainage and around the water intake system, Forest Service Road 65, and other natural and constructed barriers that have helped contain the fire’s spread. Crews are also keeping a close watch over the fire area, checking for any signs of renewed activity so they can respond quickly if conditions change.

The chance of light, patchy showers and thunderstorms remains possible for the next few days, with temperatures expected to remain in the high 50s to low 60s. Rain may help moderate fire behavior across both fires, though heavy fuels will continue to smolder. Any gusty winds or lightning could produce new localized activity, however firefighting crews remain ready to respond quickly to any new starts.
